East Wind
East wind
Coming in
Balm
On our
Chapped skin.
East wind
Cool
And refreshing
Will make it easier
To sleep in.
East wind
Blow on us
Chill the heat
And
Settle our dust.

The First Glance
Bridge
over a brackish pool
What lies beneath
the image reflected
to our eyes?
What denizens of the deep
lurk
and smirk
at
our perceived quiet?
The face
we wear
and share
with all
and sundry
is a bridge
over the brackish pool
of
our soul.
Whole hours,
days,
even weeks
make that face
mis-trace
what beckons

Only we –
and darkly –
might we know
the seething serpents
swirling ‘neath.
The hot
Passionate rage.
The chillingly cold
anger.
The lukewarm
passive
‘waiting-for-you-to-shut-up’.
The wild,
lusty love,
long lingering,
and coursing
through
the veins.
The trembling fear,
quaking out of us,
as perspiration
exudes and beads
a fine film over
the panic within.
Bridge over a brackish pool,
Reveal your secrets.
