A Collective Noun For Cranes

A Collective Noun for Cranes

A collective noun for cranes

Is?

No matter

But, assert themselves they do

Erect and in

Full view

Of me and you.

Clanging and clambering about

We hear a shout!

Of riggers at their toil.

So many of our dwellings now

Are assembled by these cranes

They rise above our plains

Monuments to man-made cities.

But, nature is still here

Pooling lest we fear

That we are left

To our constructions

Alone

And think that our world begins

And ends

With us

Alone.

A collective noun for cranes

Could be

Waterbirds

By a pool

Lest we fool

Ourselves

That nature

Excludes

Us.

You Are Where Your Mind Wanders

You Are Where Your Mind Wanders

Sitting

In a peaceful garden

Soundings of

Birdsong

Enter in

Interjected intermittently

By automobiles

Rolling on by

Under a warming blue

Sky.

But, the inner eye is

Elsewhere

Harbouring another care.

For

You are

Where your mind wanders

Where your heart ponders,

Regardless of the place

Occupied by your face.

Listen

Be still

Allow the sound to fill

You, with present concerns

Here and now.

Furrow not your brow

In troubles elsewhere

You cannot be there.

Let the scampering ants

Scarper away your troubles

And chance

Yourself here

Mind and heart clear.

Sitting

In a peaceful garden

Breathing free within

Allowing solar rays

To fall upon the skin

And sounds of birds on ear

Just hear

Here.

Blossoms in Sight

Blossoms in Sight

Blossoms in sight

Covered by cloud

With a tinge of light

Inviting you to come

From winter

To spring

Where the birds will

Sing a song

As we long

For a moment of peace

Today.

Blossoms are a way

For us to hope.

Keep your post to below 500 words, as much as possible.

All we ask is you link to a human news story on your blog on the last Friday of each month, one that shows love, humanity, and brotherhood. Something like this news, about a man who only fosters terminally ill children.

Join us on the last Friday of each month in sharing news that warms the cockles of our heart. No story is too big or small, as long as it goes beyond religion and politics, into the core of humanity.

Place the WE ARE THE WORLD Badge on your sidebar, and help us spread the word on social media. Tweets, Facebook shares, G+ shares using the #WATWB hashtag through the month most welcome. More Blogfest signups mean more friends, love and light for all of us.

We’ll read and comment on each others’ posts, get to know each other better, and hopefully, make or renew some friendships with everyone who signs on as participants in the coming months.

Scent Of Fresh Soil

Scent Of Fresh Soil

Scent of fresh soil

Graded, rolled and pressed

Against the road.

Bearing a load,

Of functional things,

And a beauty

Borne in being

Itself.

Grained in texture,

And

Present with promise

Of more

Yet to come.

Beautiful Lines Upon A Face

Beautiful Lines Upon A Face

Beautiful lines upon a face,

Adorn its features with particular grace,

Many a story or experience I spy,

Hidden beneath an expression wry.

As my age moved up the years,

Something in my perception appears

To change its sense of what appeals,

As newer forms of enticement reveals,

A glory not previously known.

Now a natural beauty is shown,

From that sparkle deep within,

Displayed upon their full-face grin.

Eluded Pleasant Scent

Eluded Pleasant Scent

Technology may

Capture,

In Pod and pixel,

The stunning sight,

Of brilliant day

And social night.

Sound,

It may record,

That we may pin it

To a board,

Or playlists

In our caches.

But,

The bulging bytes,

Cannot control,

A pleasant scent upon

A stroll,

A flowering tree

That comes to me

Oh, that pleasing scent

Held naturally!

Morning Motoring in the Mind and Moment

Morning Motoring in the Mind and Moment

While driving early this morn

A familiar sight emerged again,

In the car and

In the mind.

The sun shone,

A scene unveiled,

But

The mind clattered on

In its own

Gobbledy-gook and dumblety-dum

Gibbery-gibberish and bumbley-bum of

Thoughts-fears-events-memories-ideas-blah!

Then,

From my peripheral vision,

A vista formed

Upon the retina

Of the eye

And soul:

A thin veil of mist

Rested,

Like a gentle caress,

Upon the land.

Embracing trees

In its delicate fold,

Meeting the dew-damp earth,

Mist held

Suspense

Of air

And presence too,

As I gaped upon

What I saw

And,

For those minute moments,

The monotony of mind machinations

   Were stilled,

         Stopped,

               Present,

To the now,

And the scene

On the way.

Rain Fell On An Autumn Eve

Rain Fell On An Autumn Eve

Rain fell

On an autumn eve,

In a sunny shower,

Of sound

And light,

That might

Wet the ground

A little,

And refresh

The gardens

For a time.

Gentle, it was,

As is

The remaining

Scent,

Sneaking up

Into the nostrils,

To tantalise us

With the new

bounty

From above.

The #Sun Rises

The Sun Rises

risingsuntemora08012017

The Sun Rises

The sun rises,

Dawning

A new day.

The night shadows

Recede,

Then pass away.

What hopes arise

Afresh

On this morn?

What adventures

Begin

From the refulgent dawn?

Fissures

Fissures

Fissures break out

onto the face

We work hard

At saving,

Making the mask

Purposeful and perpetual.

Yet fissures

Crumble its façade.

Fault lines emerge,

Atolls of anxiety arise,

Ditches of depression

Sink in shadow.

The posturing persona

Tires,

As the real mantle

Rises from the core,

And the soul stirs,

It’s flame flowing,

To the face.
