Even They – When Our Supporters Suffer

Even they

Have their down days

Those ones who often

Buoy us up.

Yes, they too

Are dashed and smashed

Upon the rocks of life

Having their share of strife

They too have grown weary

At times swimming with

Us

Seeming to show little fuss

As they tread water

Yet

In the power of the great

Wet

Their strokes tire

And waves wash them

Away.

They

Will have a day

Where the tumult of life’s sea

Catches them in

The melee

Oh!

If they could be free

And drift gently, gently

Ashore

And moor

Upon the care

For them

That we all share.

We all have those days, at times, even weeks, where life seems against us. This poem arose from moments when we see others cast upon the vicicissitudes of life and, is for them. For some musical accompaniment, you may like to listen to Eric Genuis’s The Tempest.

To Surrender

To Surrender

For those experiencing physical and mental illness and their loved ones

On and on and on and

On, it goes.

That little bit

More

Than before.

Another smidgen

Of freedom

And movement

And memory

Goes.

Where?

Nobody knows.

But

It has gone.

As loved ones

Watch on

Attendant and expectant,

Ever poised.

But now

Becoming

Spent

From the ever-flowing demands

And adrenalin.

All

Surrender

In resignation

In sadness

In exhaustion.

And we,

Looking on,

And lingering

On the periphery,

Surrender too,

As the empathic

Frustration

And disappointment

Gives way

To

Surrender.

A new way forward

Has begun.

~~~GUIDELINES~~~
  1.  Keep your post to below 500 words, as much as possible.
  2. All we ask is you link to a human news story on your blog on the last Friday of each month, one that shows love, humanity, and brotherhood. Something like this news, about a man who only fosters terminally ill children.
  3. Join us on the last Friday of each month in sharing news that warms the cockles of our heart. No story is too big or small, as long as it goes beyond religion and politics, into the core of humanity.
  4. Place the WE ARE THE WORLD Badge on your sidebar, and help us spread the word on social media. Tweets, Facebook shares, G+ shares using the #WATWB hashtag through the month most welcome. More Blogfest signups mean more friends, love and light for all of us.
  5. We’ll read and comment on each others’ posts, get to know each other better, and hopefully, make or renew some friendships with everyone who signs on as participants in the coming months.
For The Black Dog Bites Severely
For all those we know and love.  May they find peace and vigour again.
For The Black Dog Bites Severely
For some the Black Dog bites severely,
Smiting in an awful wound;
The cost to victims is dearly,
As they may feel sorely doomed.
The bite may infect like rabies,
And take a diabolic toll;
Turning certitudes to maybes,
As it eats at body, mind and soul.
And we, we try to tend them,
To bring the balm of cheer;
Apply the discipline of listening,
A focussed, compassionate ear.
It may take medication,
To bring the chemical mix to still;
And it takes love and dedication,
To bandage their battered will.
And so we send these words out,
To the one’s we know by name;
And to all their suffering companions,
Who feel much the same.
May they receive the treatment,
The best care all can give;
For we want them all to flourish,
And again to fully live.
